The leaders discussed the importance of participation of European representatives, together with the United States, in the process of achieving a real and just peace.

The President thanked the IMF for its financial support and noted that Ukraine looks forward to continued cooperation. Kristalina Georgieva emphasized that, despite the war, Ukraine is fulfilling its obligations to the IMF and implementing necessary reforms.

The Head of State informed her about his recent conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump and European leaders, as well as the current diplomatic opportunities.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Edi Rama aligned on next steps in the diplomatic track. The leaders discussed preparations for meetings at major international venues aimed at increasing support for Ukraine.

During the meeting, the security situation in the region was discussed. The President informed about intensified Russian attacks, including the strike on the Odesa region near the Romanian border on the night of August 6. The Head of State welcomed the decision of the Romanian parliament to authorize its military to shoot down Russian targets that enter Romania’s airspace.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz to exchange views on the current situation and coordinate their next steps.

One of the topics raised during the meeting was the possibility of granting relocated businesses the right to choose in which community they pay taxes. The meeting also addressed increasing the percentage of workers in frontline region enterprises eligible for deferral from mobilization.

​During a working trip to the Sumy region on the anniversary of the start of the Kursk operation, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal, and Commander of the Air Assault Forces Oleh Apostol.

The President thanked the warriors and their brothers-in-arms for defending Ukraine across various frontline sectors and paid special tribute to their contribution to the defense of the Sumy region.
